The best place to have been this past Father’s Day was at Blackwood Lane enjoying the gorgeous sun-soaked patio surrounded by lush green fields and stunning views of Mount Baker—sipping some of the best wines in Canada, of course!
Patio Party for the Patriarch
Indeed, Blackwood Lane hosted the perfect patio party for the patriarch of the family as winemaker, Carlos Lee, celebrated Dad’s big day by offering a fabulous family wine tasting and cellar tour experience!
VIP Cellar Tour for Dad
These lucky Dads and their families had the opportunity to sample Blackwood Lane’s premier wines, made in the old-world French tradition, followed by a private wine cellar tour hosted by Carlos, who ebulliently informed, explained, and entertained his guests as they sampled his complex and elegant wines straight from the barrel!
No Father’s Day FOMO
If you’re starting to feel a looming sense of FOMO while reading this post, don’t fret! You’ll be pleased to know that their patio is open for the summer, so you don’t need to wait for a special occasion to bask in the sun whilst enjoying a bottle of world-class wine with your besties! Blackwood Lane regulars know that a day spent sipping wine on the patio IS the special occasion. Come over, bring your friends and family and find out for yourself!
Picnic on the Patio
Hanging out on Blackwood’s gorgeous Tuscan-inspired patio with friends and family is great, but why not kick it up a notch and order one of their custom picnic baskets! Choose from a mouth-watering selection of local, handmade cheeses, charcuterie, oven-warmed bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar and fresh fruit! It all pairs exquisitely with any Blackwood vintage! Just ask for the picnic menu the next time you’re heading out to the winery.
All in the Family
Father’s Day is extra special at the winery, as Blackwood Lane is family run. Carlos’ son, Daniel Lee, has been working at the winery since he was shorter than the wine barrels, learning all aspects of the wine business from his father. “I love seeing the whole business progress and evolve in an organic way,” Daniel explains. “Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been learning from my dad, starting with cutting the grass to helping bottle, blend, punch down and label the wines—just about every aspect of running the business.”
Carlos adds, “I love seeing him being a part of the development of the winery and watching him improve over time. I try to pass on my values about work and wine. We’ve built something good–a legacy for BC, which I am proud to pass on to my son. It’s an earned legacy for him as he’s learned from the ground up.” There’s no doubt that Blackwood Lane is in good hands and will continue to grow and evolve for generations to come.
